Division

Division is an arithmetic operation used to find out how many times a number will go into another number. For example, two goes into nine, four and a half times. This can also be written down as 9 ÷ 2 = 4.5, or 9 / 2 = 4,5 or spoken verbally as "nine over two is four and a half." The numbers in the operation have special names: Dividend ÷ divisor = quotient.

In a business organization, a division is a unique group of people who are responsible for a particular product or function.
In military doctrine, a division is a unique cohesive unit. In the United States a division totals about 10,000 to 12,000 soldiers or marines.
