Glockenspiel
From the Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can change
The glockenspiel is a tuned percussion instrument, making it in the same category as the xylophone and timpani. It usually has a range of two and a half octaves. It is set up in a keyboard format, similar to the xylophone. However, the glockenspiel is a metallophone (is made of metal), while the xylophone is made of wood. It is hit by mallets with a plastic or felt tip. It has a soft sound, but it is very high so if it is hit too hard it makes a horrible, pulsing sound. It is used to represent things such as fairys, birds, butterflys etc. To play glockenspiel you must have good aim to hit the right notes. The glockenspiel is from Germany. The glockenspiel is just like a xylophone but is different in some ways.
