Poas is a town in Alajuela, Costa Rica. There is a volcano named “poas volcano”. It is an active volcano. That place is a national park and is one of the most striking places where a lot of national and international tourists arrive. People from the entire world come to Costa Rica to look all the landscape, the nature (flora and fauna), different types of animals that you can imagine like a lot of birds, colorful butterflies, frogs, and snakes. But also people can look at different types of plants. The most common plant is named by native people “poor man’s umbrella” because it is about more than a meter of diameter.

Another reason why Poas Volcano is important in Costa Rica and the entire world too is because the volcano has two craters and one of that is the biggest of the world with 1.5 kilometers of diameter and 300 kilometers of depth. Also in the park is a beautiful quiet lake near the crater, but to see it people have to have a very good health because it is a long road through a big trail surrounded by a forest as well as fresh air.

Many fonts said that the biggest eruption was in 1910, and recently in August 2000. Also there is a museum where you can enjoy looking at and understanding better the things that you can look in the whole park, and some others like false fossils of animals that were not in the park, but are good for your knowledge.
