From the Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can change

Hi! We're a Year Seven class in New Zealand. We've just finished an assignment on Explorers and now we're going to see if we can add some of the information we discovered about them to their pages in the Simple English Wikipedia.

--

We are learning to apply the skills we have learned to create a resources others can use.

We will know we can do this by:

  • addressing our audience (using BE 1500)
  • using correct grammar and spelling
  • using a variety of resources
  • including our sources
  • working as a team

-- We have started to build new pages and edit ones that are already in existence. The pages that we will be editting ar Hernan Cortes, Christopher Columbus, Neil Armstrong, Tenzing Norgay, Edmund Hillary, Ernest Shackleton, Robert Falcon Scott, Marco Polo and Zheng He.

We are hoping not to disrupt the information that is there, but rather create more detailed resources for others to use. Because we have limited access to computers, this will be a disrupted effort as we work. However, hopefully before long we will have created a good information resource. We are not creating any vandalism (because we know how angry that will make our teacher).

You are welcome to help us improve our pages and we are of course open to discussion about any changes we make. Please let us know of any violations you see under our name immediately and we will strive to rectify this at the earliest possible opportunity.
