Talk:Thermodynamic system
From the Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can change
[change] A piston is not a system.
"System" is defined as: "A System is a group of related things(which can be real or imaginary) and that work with each other." Hence a piston enclosing a quantity of gas in a cylinder would be system, but not a simply a piston by itself. One could equally well describe paper clip or a stone as a system, and maybe this could be justified, but such vague concepts will not help a student coming to this page seeking a basic understanding. I can change this if none object. PAS (talk) 12:40, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thermodynamic system is used as term opposite to environment. Solution as a system sound strage as well, but in context of thermodynamics it makes sense. But to make it not more controversial than necessary I suggest to replace piston by cylinder. Would that be sufficient from your point of view? --Cethegus (talk) 15:34, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
