Turbine
From the Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can change
A turbine is a rotary engine that turns fluid flow into energy.
Simple turbines have a shaft with a blade attached. Moving fluids, such as water or air, push the blades so that they rotate around with the shaft. This rotating motion can be used to produce energy. Early turbine examples are windmills and water wheels. Turbine blades can also be rotated to move a fluid. This is how simple propeller aeroplanes work.
A casing can be placed around the turbine to control the movement of the fluid.
