Edison Arantes do Nascimento[1] or Pelé was a footballer from Brazil. He was born on October 23, 1940 in Três Corações.

He was given the title "Football Player of the Century" along with Diego Maradona by FIFA. Maradona was selected by a vote using the internet but FIFA beleived there was a problem with this and chose to select both players for the title[2].

From 1956-1974 he played for Santos FC, had 605 appearances, and scored 589 goals[3]. From 1975-1977 he played for New York Cosmos, when he had 64 appearances, and scored 37 goals[3]. Then from 1978-1980 he played for XI Classic then he retired at playing soccer football at 40 years old.
