You can use the scheme:

[change] DaPunkBot (talk ▪ changes)

  • Contributions/DaPunkBotDaPunkBot
  • Operator: Da Punk '95
  • Programming language: AWB
  • Function: General Maintanance
  • Description: Generally for IW Links, categorys, tags and Typos. Just to say I am reapplying (see below), as I never got a reply from my last request. I never knew a category for Microsoft Software exsisted. --  Da Punk '95  talk  21:06, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
    • mmm, I thinks that you should do some more edit. I don't understand the difference between 1 -> 2 for example. :)
    • any other opinion? --vector ^_^ (talk) 05:50, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

[change] StigBot (talk ▪ changes)

I hereby request botflag on this wiki for my bot StigBot.

  • StigBot
  • Owner’s account: Stigmj (talk)
  • Bot account: StigBot (contribssulmakebot )
  • Function: mainly interwiki, but can be used in user-namespace for adding userpages etc. on request from the affected users.
  • Software: Pywikipedia, updated from SVN before each run.
  • Other: Runs manually initiated automatic supervised and sometimes entirely manual. Already has bot flag on: ar, bpy, en, eo, fr, no, oc, pt, ro and vo.

Best regards, Stigmj (talk) 20:43, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

[change] DaPunkBot (talk ▪ changes)

  • DaPunkBot
  • Operator: Da Punk '95
  • Programming language: AWB
  • Function: Interwiki / Category
  • Description: This will be a manually run bot to add cats and IW's to pages, so I don't clog up Recent Changes, like I did earier.

 Da Punk '95  talk  05:21, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Denied. Given that you still used your main account to make the AWB changes you aplied for bot status on a seperate account for, it hints that you seem to have a tendency to mix and match accounts and would likely "accidently" edit from the bot account. Also as I just had to rollback some 25 AWB cat edits which were in violation of standard practice here (see Wikipedia:Categorization focusing on issues with placing article in categories they are already in the subcategory for and naming conventions), giving bot status seems likely to lead to more issues going unnoticed. -- Creol(talk) 08:00, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
A)I never knew Category:Microsoft Software exsisted.
B)I do understand the category system, if you look here I made about 15-20 edits last night, not against Wikipedia practice. The Microsoft issue was human error. I will not go in and edit using DaPunkBot. I swear that would be the case. I have not logged into DaPunkBot in Firefox. The only thing I have logged into the bot in was AWB. If the bot was approved, I would be happy for my non-bot accounts AWB access to be revolked. --  Da Punk '95  talk  20:48, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

[change] Picochip08 proposed bot changesowner

  • Contributions
  • Operator: mC8
  • Programming language: AWB
  • Function: [manual] Google testing, [auto] typo fixing, Category tagging (searching, for instance "chess", "knight", "pawn", "queen", "bishop" and tagging them Category:Chess, manually welcoming users.

Picochip08 (talk) 17:13, 2 May 2008 (UTC) / mC8 17:16, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

To tell you the truth, I really don't see any reason for there to be a welcoming bot with our current level of users that actually stick around on this site. Most of the editors that join here usually join and then not make any edits. We don't want the bot to welcome every single new editor that signs up to this site if this would be the case as it would add too many pages to this site that aren't needed. Also, typo fixing is something that should be noticed to make sure that they are correct typo fixes. Cheers, Razorflame 19:41, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
No to auto typo fixing. There's so many reasons why a word may be misspelled, and doing it automatically is a bad idea. I'd be happy for it to be done manually though. A welcome bot would be a great idea. It's nice to get new messages, and anyhow there's no limit to the number of pages we have. Razor, if you have an issue with page numbers, think of all the indefinitely blocked users' pages. Majorly (talk) 19:46, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
AWB has a built in typo correction feature, that I was going to enable for any other edits it made. Oh, and I would manually welcome the users (but having the bot flag gets rid of the "using AWB" bit of the edit summary, so it is better to do it on a bot. On English Wikiquote, I think it was, there is a welcome bot, and it never seemed to have the same feeling I have had when a human types {{subst:welcome}} ~~~~.) And, Razorflame, my theory is that Wiki is not paper, and anyway, I got welcomed last year, although I never actually recieved the message until this year, when I logged in again. Just to reiterate, at the moment there isn't anything too automated about the bot at the moment - it's AWB with added features for bots (and as there isn't an AWB test wiki, it might be a while before I can get all the functions sorted as it's all a bit of guessing). Ho hum. mC8 12:16, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
What do you mean by "Google testing"? Chenzw  Talk  12:22, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
This. Oh, and I'll start running some things on Tuesday, as I only have my laptop at the moment (which doesn't have AWB). mC8 14:38, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Right, I've made some [[User:Picochip08/General Fixes|"general fix" edits, that generally makes things look nicer from an editing point of view. I stopped after Majorly' (talk) pinged me on IRC to say I was flooding RC, so can I get some more input onto here for a bot flag? Picochip08 proposed bot changesowner 19:45, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

[change] LinkFA-Bot

  • Contributions
  • Operator: Guandalug (or more often to be found on Guandalug@dewp)
  • Programming language: php (own framework, to be released for public usage 'soon')
  • Function: Update usage of Template:Link FA (add / remove template in articles)
  • Description: See en:User:LinkFA-Bot/function for a detailed operation description. This bot already works for the very same task on the German and English Wikipedias, having the same username over there (including assigned botflag, of course). Edit - examples can thus simple be found here (en) or here (de). If the bot is deemed useful, I am ready to do a few example edits here as well, but I'm waiting for your "Go" before I do so. --Guandalug (talk) 11:02, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
some edits? --vector ^_^ (talk) 06:41, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Sure thing. Incoming as soon as I repaired my bot. (Broke the thing while trying to 'enhance' the framework.... nothing major, should be back up and running today, and then you'll see some edits). --Guandalug (talk) 07:16, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Sorry for the wait - Real Life (tm) happened. WP work is unpaid work, unfortunately ;) But now, there you go, 20 example-edits. More to come of the same sort if the bot flag gets granted. --Guandalug (talk) 18:49, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks a lot. First pass done, about 600 added markups and 260 removed ones. --Guandalug (talk) 06:31, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
One thing I noticed was that it removed FA links on a couple articles that it shouldn't have. Vezina Trophy for example. Now maybe I don't know all the nuances of what it is looking for. But Vezina Trophy is definately featured on en.wiki. -Djsasso (talk) 19:15, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
That article is 'featured', yes, but it's a "Featured List", not a "Featured article", and the ppl on the en-WP especially asked for Link FA only to be set for Features Articles, not lists, portals and such (same request came from the de-WP, so...). Thus, from the bot's point of view, that is not a featured article. --Guandalug (talk) 20:04, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Ahh ok, and that was what I thought might be the case. -Djsasso (talk) 18:55, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

[change] H92Bot

I hereby request bot flag:

  • Operator H92 (no)
  • Purpose Resetting the sandbox
  • Software Pywikipediabot, updated before each run with SVN
  • OK, it’s not that big of a job for a bot, but I run it on other wikis, no, nn, he, it works well, and it will always keep the sandbox clean (I run it several times a day, manually started). — H92 (talk · no) 18:34, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Ah, I forgot, it will inevitably also do some interwiki, to new articles on some other languages. — H92 (talk · no) 18:38, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
This will take a while to fix. I can’t log in with the terminal, but I can via the Wiki. :S H92 (talk) 19:49, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Fixed now, using API (login.py was broken). Making edits now. H92 (talk) 22:51, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

[change] SoxBot

  • Contributions
  • Operator: Soxred93
  • Programming language: PHP
  • Function: Update user's statuses
  • Description: A note to all, this bot is already running stably on the english wikipedia. This bot gets all users in Category:Wikipedians who use StatusBot. For each one, it detects if they have edited in the last 15 minutes. If they have, it sets User:SoxBot/Status/(user) to "online". Otherwise, it changes it to "offline". Note, I have not done may trial edits, due to the fact that I'm the only one using it, and it's also a known stable code.

--~~~~

mmm can I use the source on it.wiki? :-)))) --vector ^_^ (talk) 06:38, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Ps, I think that it could be usefull to see in RC when a user going of-line or on-line, or not? :-) --vector ^_^ (talk) 06:39, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Considering how often this bot edits, it wouldn't be a good idea...Razorflame 14:59, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Given that it checks as often as every 4 minutes and updates its pages for every editor on its list that has made an edit since its last update, it could easily flood RC. If it were just editing the change in status, that would be one thing, but since it also edits a host of logistics pages to keep the status up to date, I would strongly suggest we grant it bot status quickly. The more users on its list that are active at one time, the more active it will get. (I would do it, but as it is being discussed here, I defer to the consensus.) -- Creol(talk) 15:12, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Blocked it, due to the big scary message on it's EN page. I think we should wait for clarification of whether it's OK before unblocking. I realise it's volume thing, and would only really be a major problem on large wikis, but I think we're best to wait. Archer7 - talk 19:45, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Not done. blocked by Archer7 (for now) --vector ^_^ (talk) 19:44, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
